Blank Canvas was created to bridge the gap between traditional new-build purchases and self-build. Many buyers want more say in how their home is finished, but don't want the complexity, risk and time commitment of a full self-build project.

A Blank Canvas home is delivered by a participating housebuilder to a defined handover stage. The external structure is complete, the home is secure, serviced and ready for internal completion. The buyer takes ownership and completes the interior fit-out, supported by specialist finance, insurance, digital tools and a curated Marketplace.

Blank Canvas homes are designed to work across mainstream new-build developments, not only one-off self-build plots. They can be detached houses, semi-detached homes, terraces, apartments or bungalows. Many are provided because planning policy increasingly requires larger sites to include Self and Custom Build Housing opportunities.

The model is built around clarity and responsibility. The housebuilder delivers what they are best at: the structure. The buyer takes responsibility for the interior completion, with the tools, support and curated supplier network they need to do it well.
